HERTS AD LEAGUE GAMES HIT BY THE DOWNPOUR AS ONLY 11 GAMES BEAT THE WEATHER!

HERTS SENIOR COUNTY CUP


Strafford Arms bailed out of the Herts Senior County Cup with a disappointing away defeat to East Herts Corinthian side Lord Haig.


DIVISION TWO


A Troy Archer hat-trick helped Excel to a 5-2 away win against Harpenden Colts OB Reserves. Jack Brown and Joseph Curran also on target for Excel. Colts’ goals scored by Paul Gillard and Stephen Harris.


Pinewood remained top and unbeaten in Division 2 with a 4-1 victory over Oceans XI. Andrew Alsop amongst the goals again with a brace, George Milsted and Mark Hayward with the others. Charlie Tilbrook with Oceans sole reply.


DIVISION FOUR


A game between two of the unbeaten sides in Division Four lived up to expectations in a 9-goal thriller, with Brookmans Park coming out on top in this close fought battle. Nathan Gibbons with two, Sam Kinsley, Brad Carter and Skrdlik Jiri on target for Park. Welwyn Rangers’ goals coming from Luke Stuckey and a hat-trick from Charlie Montague.

Luke Fountain and Christian Simmons were on amongst the scorers as Royston Rangers picked up an impressive away win against Wrestlers Reserves.


DIVISION FIVE


Moretown went level on points with the leaders in division five and still have a game in hand, as they maintained their impressive 100% league record thus far. Maxwell Judge hit a hat-trick and Daniel Pugh hit a brace in a 9-0 thumping of 10-man St. Albans Eagles. Sammy Shakiry, Christopher Ellinas, Alfie Packer and John Mitas all with one each.


HERTS ADVERTISER INTERMEDIATE CUP


Royston Rangers Reserves gave a great account of themselves against a side 3 leagues above, but it was Division 2 side Wheathampstead 89 that went into the next round with a 5-3 win. Two from in- form Jacob Jones set Wheato on their way and their tally was added to by Christopher Coleman, James Watt and Charlie Gilroy. Royston’s goals coming from Jack Hutchinson, Jamal Green and Sam Broadey.


Despite being at opposite ends of the league table, Alban Dynamo went into the hat for the next round after beating Strafford Arms Reserves on penalties after a 3-3 draw in normal time. A great victory for Dynamo.

HERTS ADVERTISER JUNIOR CUP


Goals from Phil Benard and Ryan Harrington gave St. George the win over division 3 rivals BWSC.


HERTS ADVERTISER CHALLENGE CUP


Tom Mardle was on the scoresheet again for Division one league leaders Welwyn Garden United, but they crashed out of the Challenge Cup after tasting defeat for the first time this season against Wheathampstead Wanderers. Frankie Buckler, Stephen Buckler and Michael Cheesman for Wheato.

JIM LYNCH TROPHY


Brookmans Park met Welwyn Warriors for the second time this season, this time in the Jim Lynch Trophy. Yet again Park we’re pushed all the way by their division two opponents, before coming out on top 4-2. Adam Davies led the way with a header from close range and then a long-range strike that deceived the Warriors keeper. Chris Powell and Jon Cox made the game safe for Brookmans. Steve Mee and Adriano Gil in reply for Warriors.
