LITTLE HEATH (P)INTO LAST 8 OF COUNTY CUP

HERTS FA INTERMEDIATE COUNTY CUP

Little Heath reached the quarterfinals of the Hertfordshire Intermediate Cup with a 1-0 away win against FCB Hemel.

FCB Hemel came into the fixture having not lost a game all season. From the offset, it was clear this would be a close encounter. Both sides had chances early on, the closest effort coming from a Tom Williams' freekick which looked goal-bound from the touchline. FCB Hemel were dealt a huge blow when their centre-half picked up his second yellow of the game with a poorly timed challenge in the 30th minute. The deadlock was broken on the stroke of halftime after Nick Baker placed a well-timed through ball straight into the path of Robert Pinto to cap off the move with an outstanding finish. It's important to note that the referee made a brilliant call to rightly overrule a horrendous claim for offside from Hemel's linesman, who was about fifteen yards out of line with play.

Hemel battled well through and kept themselves in the game despite going down to nine men midway through the second half, this time for violent conduct. Despite Little Heath being wasteful in the final third to secure the victory, the defence kept chances to a minimum and ensured Little Heath advanced to the quarter finals of the competition.
