ROVERS DIS-ARM STRAFFORD'S STRONG START TO THE SEASON
Game Week : Sunday 9th October 2022
(Above: match action from the Premier Division between Plough and Harrow versus Player Packs)
PREMIER DIVISION
Strafford Arms [ 2 : 3 ] Borehamwood Rovers
Strafford Arms’ superb start to the season hit a road bump when last seasons Challenge cup
winners, Borehamwood Rovers, turned them over at home. Goals from Billy and Louie
Lobjoit along with a Connor Samson strike kept the top of the Premier Division looking very
tight indeed.
Hilltop [ 2 : 4 ] Paxton Rovers
Paxton Rovers produced an excellent second half to move clear of Hilltop. A double from
Ofori was backed up by singles from Emanuels and Bediako. This gave Paxton their second
win on the bounce.
Plough and Harrow [ 2 : 4 ] Player Packs
Player Packs got their season off of the ground with their first win against Plough and Harrow. Packs had faced the top 3 teams in the league so far and despite strong performances, had yet to taste victory. Goals from Gould, James, Ramsey
Skew Bridge [ 12 : 0 ] Six Bells
DIVISION ONE
With the majority of Division One sides taking part in the county cup, it was just the one game that went ahead:
Saints [ 1 : 1 ] The Bull
The Bull have had a mixed start to the season, and faced a struggling Saints FC who were
chasing their first points of the season. The points were shared as both teams cancelled each other out. Harry Shepherd opened the scoring just before halftime for the Bull, with
Dave Fennell grabbing the equaliser after the break for Saints.
DIVISION TWO
There were two league games played in Division 2 due to the county cup:
Harpenden Colts Old Boys Reserves [ 2 : 2 ] Pinewood
In the first fixture, league leaders Pinewood travelled to Harpenden Colts OB Res. The form-book predicted a straight forward win for Pinewood, who had yet to drop a point this season. However, Harpenden put in a fine performance to fight back from a goal down to take a deserved
share of the points.
Wheathampstead 89 [ 1 : 3 ] Oceans XI
In the other fixture, Oceans XI picked up a second win of the season and added to
Wheathampstead 89’s woes. A double from Daniel Campfield, either side of a Charlie
Tilbrook single, put Oceans 3 up. Substitute Alex Beadle popped up with a late consolation
for Wheathampstead.
DIVISION THREE Four fixtures in Division 3 produced plenty of goals:
Alban Dynamo [ 5 : 5 ] St. Georges
The first of the action packed games saw Alban Dynamo and St Georges share the spoils in a
5-5 draw.
Hertfordshire Vets [ 3 : 0 ] Welwyn Warriors Reserves
Hertfordshire Vets produced an excellent performance to beat Welwyn Warriors res 3-0. A
beautiful Robert Gradwell double was complemented by a Kieran Hopkins goal.
Phoenix Reserves. [ 3 : 0 ] The Wrestlers
Phoenix reserves also scored 3 and kept a clean sheet, last season’s Division 4 champions
picking up their first win of the season in the process.
Strafford Arms Reserves [ 3 : 3 ] TNF
Strafford Arms reserves dropped their first points of the season. A strong start for TNF saw
them 3-1 up and they should have put the game to bed with some big chances missed.
Strafford pulled 2 back and the game finished 3-3. Two goals from Jonny Tanton and a
single from Jake deacon made up the TNF goals.
DIVISION FOUR
Brookmans Park Reserves [ 2 : 2 ] Hadham Rovers Yellows

Mermaid Res had a walkover against Cub FC who failed to raise a side.
DIVISION FIVE
Moretown and Rose and Crown Mosquito kept pace with each other at the top of Division 5 with 12 points each. Moretown do have a game in hand though.
Royston Rangers Reserves [ 0 : 5 ] Moretown Moretown had an excellent win away to Royston Rangers Res, winning 5-0.
A hat trick from Alfie Packer was backed up by singles from Judge and Brooks.

Welwyn Warriors [ 2 : 3 ] Brookmans Park
Brookmans Park left it very late to eventually overcome Welwyn Warriors 3-2. Park had equalised in the first half through Callum Baylis and lead through Adam Page only to be pegged back level again. However a last minute header from Tom Milton secured a spot in the next round.
Spartans United [ 2 : 0 ] Mermaid
Mermaid travelled to East Herts to face a strong Spartans side. Despite a strong performance, an own goal in the first half and a late penalty saw them lose 2-0 and exit the cup.
Six Bells Reserves [ 2 : 2 ] Bengeo Blinders (Bengeo Blinders won [ 3 : 4 ] on penalties)
Six Bells reserves suffered the heartbreak of penalty kicks. Two goals from Max O’Shea had sent the game to be decided from the spot, where ‘Bells came up short 3-4.
